What do you crave the most from that forbidden food list that gives our bg the most trouble. Most of the time, I crave a big bowl of New York style pork fried rice. Never even ate it that much before dx but that's the craving I get most often. Next in line-frend fries. How about you?

Pork Pies most of all. I also miss Singapore Fried Rice and curry sauce.
I don't particularly miss sweet food or sweets and toffees but a week or so ago I ate 1 wine gum, thinking that 1 wouldn't do any harm and for the next few hours I really craved for more of the wine gums and had very great difficulty in resisting another. Silly because I wouldn't have had any difficulty in saying no to the first one.

Cold cocktail sausages. If I ever make the mistake of buying a tub, I find that every time I visit the fridge I have to have a handful. And I seem to visit the fridge a lot more often when they're in.

sweets, like skittles, I could eat a whole big bag, and my mate was eating those teeth and lips sweets the other day and I've been craving them ever since. I cna't use these for hypos as I would vastly over correct everytime.
I do have sweets sometimes and accept that i will have the resulting high peak in blood sugar.

I'd have to go with dim sum. Especially those steamed pork buns with 4 tons of carbs and a shedload of MSG :) I actually want some now I've just typed this. I am Pavlov's dog...
I don't do them very often, and in the past they've nigh on finished me off. But worth it occasionally.

I see a lot of items above that I still eat, but the one thing I love and avoid is French Fries. :star:
Actually, the ones I used to get at the fish and chip shops in England are the best!

I don't have a forbidden foods list either, and used to indulge in Persian kabobs regularly when I was married to an Iranian man. Man, I haven't eaten that stuff in years, and now I want some! Iranians eat so much rice..... I used to make a huge pot full of basmati rice, letting it sit over gentle heat for an hour or more to make the crunchy "tah dig" at the bottom of the pot. Then I'd take a little bowl of it and mix in saffron water (you'd get a free container of saffron with every 10 lb. bag of Indian Basmati rice) and sprinkle the yellow saffron rice over the white rice. We'd fill half our plates with rice, and the rest with beef kabobs or chicken kabobs marinated in onion juice and lemon juice and a roasted tomato and a cucumber/tomato/onion/mint/lime relish, and I would dump a ton of ground sumak on everything. Oooh, I'm so hungry.

For me it's green grapes. I could sit and eat them like a bowl full of popcorn. But my numbers go sky high with even just a few. I hate having to count out 5 grapes and be happy with that!!!:banghead:

I really don't have forbidden food either except for weight gain. But if I could eat something and it wouldn't effect my weight or my blood sugar it would be vanilla ice cream smashed in a mug. For some reason it makes me feel sick no matter how much insulin I take.
WAAAAA now I want some!!! Who started this thread???? :secruity:

Cookies! Especially peanut butter cookies. When I just have to have some, I go to the bakery dept. and buy 2 or 4 and eat them all. I don't do it often, usually when I just feel sorry for myself.

What's a 'twinkie'?
LancetChick

Twinkies are small sponge cake logs filled with unspeakably sugary white cream, and they're delicious. In the US, the word "Twinkie" is generally synonymous with "junk food". I remember being able to polish off untold numbers of them at a sitting, so they present a real danger to one's health in every way. It could be worth it, though, because they sure are good.

Twinkies - Tingling Taste Buds for more than 75 Years
One of America's best known and most loved snack cakes, Twinkies have been tantalizing taste buds and filling lunch boxes since 1930. Twinkies are the stuff of legends - President Clinton put one in a time capsule - and have achieved the status of cultural icon, with the American Society of Media Photographers recently mounting a photo exhibition featuring Twinkies. But to most people, they're just fun to eat.
Whether we're carrying a supply in the glove compartment for a quick on-the-road snack, freezing them, deep frying them, or eating them right out of the package, millions of Twinkie lovers would agree with creator Jimmy Dewar's statement that "Twinkies was the best darn-tootin' idea I ever had."
Many of the 500 million Twinkies sold every year spark wonderful creative impulses, as moms, dads, school teachers and kids take to their kitchens to invent gourmet recipes, including Twinkie Shortcake, Twinkie Misu and Twinkie Sushi. And let's not forget those amazing Twinkie Wedding Cakes. A collection of Twinkie recipes is scheduled for publication next year and we'll keep posting some of these delectable delights on our website.

I was about 15, and ready to take a bite of a beloved Twinkie, when my skinny, heath-nut (except for smoking and she died at 60 from lung cancer) aunt said "Do you know what they put in those things." I yelled "Wait a minute!", and tried to stuff the whole thing in my mouth before she could tell me. I knew she was about to tell me something gross...she did, and along with trying to swallow a mouthful of Twinkie, it made me sick. I didn't have another one until my kids were half grown and begging for them.

Desserts in general are what I miss the most.
My mom and my wife's grandmother make killer desserts, they both make AMAZING home baked pies, and PIE, needless to say, is one of my all time favorite desserts! And we all know how sweet pie can be.
Other deserts I miss are cakes with frosting/icing and/or a filling between layers; and certain flavors of ice creams (you know those really good and creamy ones that Hagen Daz or Ben & Jerry makes), and also donuts! Haven't been in a Krispy Kreme in years... nuf said :)

Don't crave any particular food often, just miss things that go with occasions/memories and probably only ever eaten once a year.
Christmas pudding and brandy butter
Fish and chips at the seaside
A fondue meal, cheese followed by meat(with chips)followed by chocolate on a skiing holiday.
And I always wanted to visit the Pudding Club (a restaurant that ends the evening with a parade of traditional English puddings all to be tasted and voted upon)

Shrimp Scampi or Fettucinni Pescotori.
I haven't had either of them since I was diagnose because pasta = bad for me.

Ruffle potato chips... I could eat half a bag if you let me. That would only be 105 grams of carbs. LOL
Brandy snaps filled with whipped cream
caramello eggs, or creme eggs
chocolate milk
cocoa pops with cream and milk.. So fatty but sooo good!
A giant pile of mashed potatoes (home made nana style with butter adn milk with a touch of salt all blended together)
