Welcome Laura.

Glad you found us. You'll learn a lot here.

Frankly, I've tried maybe 3 diabetic recipes in my 31+ years of D'ing. It's more important to think 'moderation' and 'higher fibre' and 'carb counting'. You're now playing a matching game. You can match your insulins with just about any food. Last weekend I did a huge test: I had 1/2 a 16" pizza and a double peanut butter fudge brownie. It was gross. I bolussed around 4 times my normal and I came out perfect!

Hey Laura, Welcome to the forums. Cyborg is right. Cut carbs and eat food that only has one ingredient.

Welcome!!!

Hello Laura and Welcome to our humble abode
or Greatest Diabetes Forums around(our opinion). ;)

Very sorry to hear that you were dxd. with
this tough disease. Hopefully slowly but surely
you will learn it, accept it and carry on with a
Good Life.

I eat 4 to 6 small portion meals of most normal
foods plus carb count. There are some Good recipes
on this Forum along with tons more on different websites.

Hi Laura.. :)

I'm 23 but i think was 19 when diagnosed type one...yeh i must have been!

It takes some getting used to but for me anyway it's not as bad as you sometimes first think. It can be hard at times, i'm just as normal now as i was back before being diagnosed and do all the things I used to. Diet will become easier to handle as time goes on and probably more adaptable too. See you in chat again soon :)

I wasn't old when I was diagnosed!... I was 43 and I'm active!
There is a family history so I made sure I was active but I still
came down with it. Your prediabetic so... you might be able to roll back the clock a little bit. Just follow the glycemic index and make sure you go for a nice long walk at least 4 tim es a week! Who knows, you might be able to put off full type II! As for me, at least I can try to keep my numbers normal and that's my goal every day.

Good luck and welcome.
