Has anyone ever heard of or used this device? It's like the Glucowatch I saw back in the mid-80's (which isn't like the GlucoWatch available now) in that it's worn at night and is supposed to provide a warning when you have symptoms of low blood sugar. I tried to find the glucowatch when I was finally able to afford one but guess the company must have gone out of business. I think the sleep sentry is around $300 so it's kind of steep but might be helpful.

I suppose it depends on how stable your sugars are. For you, it may just be worthwhile, especially considering last week. Can it be worn during the day too? I mean, how would the thing know if it was day or night?

I always worry about going low at night because I am by myself. If I had a device to warn me before I black out (hopefully) that would be great.

If you would like, I'll try to find the catalog I saw it in, but it is expensive though and I understand it does give a lot of false positives, but I think I could probably use one too and would like to buy one as soon as I can afford one.
Maybe I can sell my daddy's color television set and a few of his other things. It's not like he's using them any more.
Glucowatch has an active website. The unit is available but it is priced outr of the market at $700.00 per unit and 63.00 per 6 test strips.

I hope this helps

Son of a gun, that's pretty expensive. I remember when I got some information on the GlucoWatch several years ago, they said it was going to cost $250.00 and the "strips" for it were going to cost about $2.50 each. The most recent information I've gotten was it cost around $600. but the "strips" were still around $2.50. $10.50 for one is just a bit on the steep side for me.

Okay, I saw the sleep sentry mentioned in the Diabetes Mall Catalog. They have a website at www.diabetesnet.com. The odd thing is, at their website, the device is $389.00 (pretty steep) but in the catalog it is $295.00, still high but a pretty large price reduction. Sorry it took so long for me to find it.

Hi lg,
I use the Sleep Sentry. I works well. I've worn it during the day, however it tends to go off if I enter a very cold, air conditioned building (skin temp changes), or if I sweat due to high temps outside. If it goes off due to air conditioning, I turn it off for a couple of minutes then turn it back on again (push of a button). This way it'll be adjusted to my current skin temp. It's an easy fix. Works best when worn at night. Has awakened me many a time during a low.

Wow that is really a cool device and very practical for those that tend to go low at night.....
