Hi, everyone. I'm new here. I was diagnosed in February 2006 with Type 2. I started with diet and was able to gain some control for a few months but then lost that when my best friend passed away. I started meds in April 2007 when my BG spiked over 400 and I couldn't get it to go down. I now take 1000 mg Metformin HC 2 x daily plus Glimepiride 1 x daily. I've struggled to get going with exercise at all.

I was just diagnosed in April 2007 with congestive heart failure and started many meds to deal with that. Now I'm even more overwhelmed than I already was with controlling the diabetes.

I am pretty new here myself and definately understand dealing with multiple issues. It will be harder but you can do it and your health is worth it.

welcome toyota!i'm sorry you have chf to deal with now as well.here'ssomething to keep in mind-don't ever let a dr. put you on actos or avandia-both can cause fluid retention,in the case of chf-would not be good!how are your bgs now?take care, trish

Now I'm in better shape - with BG's from 130 to 160 most mornings. Still not where I should be but doing better. I still have the occasional spike over 200 after eating, which I know means I'm eating the wrong type of carbs or too many carbs, right? I'm trying to learn to slow down on my eating and enjoy the food more to decrease my appetite. I have lost 11 pounds since early April - a lot due to the diuretic from the chf, I'm sure. Thanks for the support!!
