Hi everyone
I'm a diabetic of 4+ years, and I'm sitting here talking to my best friend and she's telling me that there are days where she has what we call 'lows.'

She gets 'dizzy, weak, completely spaced out, slurred speech, nauseous, shaky, heart palpitations, pale... etc.'

I'm convinced it's hypoglycemia, however she's thinking it's not cause she hasn't felt it in awhile.

What are your opinions on this one? Is it possible that it would persist for a long time and eventually just dissipate? she still gets it, just not quite as often, and it's when she skips meals.

We just tested her blood sugar and it's 5.1 mmol (she had like 2 cups of ice cream 5 hours ago)

Is it possible for people to just randomly have low blood sugars and not be considered hypoglycemic?

thanks!

Not randomly - but it is possible. If you don't eat enough and you overexert yourself you can make your BG drop too low, regardless of whether you have diabetes or are predisposed to hypoglycaemia.

Yes it is possible. I know a guy who's not diabetic and we tested his blood, it was 160 after eating and my brother is sometimes in the 70's and he feels fine. To me that's bad.

If she has 'what we call lows' then her blood sugar will be 'low'. You need the emperical data to be sure.
