I joined this forum for purely selfish reasons. I'm looking for a way around Medicare's C-peptide restriction. I'm taking 5 shots a day even though my C-peptide indicates that I manufacture too much insulin of my own.

I have been T! since June of 1956. Because of my crazy schedule and fluctuating levels of activity, my blood sugars are all over the place: high this year of 416 and low of 41 with an average of 147.9.

My Endo says that I should be on a pump but, because of my C-peptide, I'd have to pay for it myself. This won't work while living off Soc. Sec.

Hi PJ, can't help with your question, but wanted to welcome you to the forum...we all joined for selfish reasons, but seems we all help each other out. :)

Welcome fellow badger (http://www.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3DpyXOuylOpps&usg=AL29H22rjAC84MXitSySSe2YEOLL895inw).

It sounds like you are a medical abberation. Have you tried getting an endocrinologist to write a letter?

You can still greatly improve your numbers. Many MDIers here have. Start with basal testing.
