I think this is an extremely promising development, and if they can get it to do what they expect, then it might just free us from not just diabetes, but the complications it might have set in motion.

Think this applies more to type 2 than type 1. Although there should be benefits to type 1's in preventing some complications rather than a preventive to type 1. A read of the study rather than an abbreviated news article would be better before trying to draw too many opinions.
