I just called Novo Disk because my Innovo gave out and it was time for a new one. I had a brand new one still in the box as my backup and that one was dead as well. I guess that magical year passed when the batteries gave out
I was then informed that it was no longer available. I have been expecting this for a number of years now. However the blow was still devastating. I fully understand that the demand was not there and that this was a business decision Novo Disk proabably had to make. The rep on the phone was very happy to tell me that they would give me $39.00 cash to buy the Novo pen 3. She misses the point of course.

Please indulge me in my loss, I have no where else to turn

We become so attached to the rountine you know? The routine is as important as the control. In fact the routine can be a big factor in determining the control. I loved my Innovo so much. I loved the digital and more importantly I loved the digital display of the hours since my last dose. It was like a mini pump for me. I could tell precisely how much insulin was left in me. And thirdly I could just carry it in my jeans pocket. All the things the pen cannot give. I am so bummed.

I have a friend whose endo took him off the pump(for too many lows) but he was so devastated. I know the feeling first hand now.

This disease is such a personal disease yeah? Through the years you fit your self into the disease as comfortable as you can get and make your stand you know? (a few tears here) It was the essence of control for me. I am so bummed.

I am so sorry for your loss. I have a very personal relationship with my meter and can understand completely.
That said, there are so many meters on the beach. We can build new relationships with them amd make them our own.
I hope you find your perfect match soon.

Heather.

Marked, I feel your pain! What to do? It would be as if someone called me up and said, "no more insulin and flush all your pills". I`d probaly go for the saline solution several times a day and a hand full of pez in the morning and at night.
Routine in fact eveything. But, life goes on, we all have to try and keep up with so called progress. Jack

Mark,

I was also devastated when my Innovo Pen came to the end of its useful life and I couldn't replace it. Being able to verify the timing and amount of my last shot was a big help. I think the Innovo Pen was discontinued because of quality issues. After only three years of use, insulin was leaking out of the pen and I didn't trust the dosing amounts. The Novopen 3 Demi is a much better pen, especially as it dispenses in half units. But I miss the memory ...

Lily recently launched a a much more sophisticated pen with a memory - the HumPen Memoir (Humalog® (insulin lispro): Diabetes Treatment from Eli Lilly and Company (http://www.humalog.com/patient/humapen_memoir.jsp)) ). You can scroll through the time, date and amount of your last 16 shots. There is a cost - US$100 I think - and it has to be bought on prescription. And it only dispenses in whole units. But I will definitely get one when they are available in this part of the world, even if it means switching back to Humalog.

The right link for the HumaPen Memoir is HumaPen MEMOIR (http://www.humalog.com/patient/humapen_memoir.jsp?fromChecklist=flash_memoir_prod uct)

Hi Bluesky,
thanks for the understanding.
You know I have been using the innovo for 5 years now. I never did experiance any leaking and as far the the dose not being accurate, I never to my knowledge encountered that problem. But you know with some lows or highs they just don't compute.
The rep told me that there was just such little demand for the device. But who knows?

Anyway that is great news that there is a pen with memory. If you want to PM me I would be very happy to send buy it here and send it to you.

The rep told me that there was just such little demand for the device. But who knows?

Probably due to the size. It wasn't really the size of a "pen" but more 3 pens "taped" together.

well technically the device was 4 1/2" long 1 1/2" wide and
1/2" thick.

Me too, and indeed she was very cool. I loved her, she was my best friend, may she rest in peace.
No lack of perspective here. LOL!
