I dropped 3 bottles so far. $240 down the drain.

I could kill someone. Especially when you step on the glass for the next week.

I have yet to ever do this. Knock on wood. I think because I pump I draw up 300 units, and don't touch the insulin bottle for another week.

I was on MDI for 32 years and now the pump. I have dropped a few bottles but never broke one. Yes tha tdoes suck. I would try to do it on a softer floor if you are prone to dropping them. :D

Nope, it doesn't. I've only dropped about
3 but none broke. I normally open my Insulin
pouch on a table or counter.

I didn't think they would break! Now something else to worry about. I have dropped vials before, but they didn't break. I will be more careful.

I've never broken a bottle (knock on wood!), but I do remember seeing these little neoprene sleeves for insulin bottles that were supposed to cushion the bottles if they were dropped. I've definitely seen them on Ebay and I imagine that other websites would sell them too.

Butterfingers! I've never dropped a bottle, but it would seriously piss me off I dropped one, let alone 3. Insulin is just so expensive, even with insurance.

I broke one a few days ago that I had only gotten 200 units out of. I really hate that.

I had a bottle roll off the bathroom counter and break when it hit the floor. Talk about stinking. Ewwwwwwww!!

Never had one break by dropping it but have had a few ruined by schmuckleheads who decide "ooh! I found his insulin! I'd better do something stupid with it, otherwise it'll be safe and sound where he left it" cost me a few hundred dollars and a few minor panic attacks:).

I had those sleeves back in my NPH and Reguar days. The ones I had were green and purple and had tops to them. Every inch of the bottle was completely protected.

Hi Jet Pilot,

I had posted on this back in April I think. After my husband had dropped and shattered two vials of my son's insulin I purchased protective covers for the insulin vials. You can google "securitee blankets" and they make them to fit different sized insulin vials. I think they are $5-$6 each. Definitely worth the investment in my opinion.

So far .... So good!! I hope it stays that way, altho, I have a feeling it wont! LOL And I don't have insurance. I pay the full price, but luckily [for ME ] that is for the ReliOn Brand [which is nothing more than Novolin with the words "ReliOn" stuck upon it!]

It's kinda funny...I have a Spanish tile floor in my kitchen. I can break anything on it, the Corelle dishes, hard plastic kids' dishes, my really good chef's knives...but I've never broken a bottle of insulin on the tile. I've dropped many a bottle, but I guess I've been lucky that it hasn't hit the floor 'just right'.

Of course, now that I say that, I'm probably going to drop the next two bottles or so....

I know not all do this, but can't you bring the broken bottle back to the pharmacy and get another one?

I've only dropped a vial a couple of times, and that was on a vinyl floor. No breakage. My Mom was D for most of her adult life, and in her declining years, she dropped her Humulin at least once a week. Never broke one.

So ... I just emptied a vial of Lantus. Took the empty to my back deck and dropped it 5 times from chest height (about 4 feet). Did not break.

Is it a matter of brand?

Hmm.. I've never broken a bottle. I have dropped them once or twice but never broken. You would be a good candidate for an insulin pen. ;)
