Just so you know the Dexcom Seven was just approved by the FDA which is a seven day sensor. Granted, the sensor is $60 vs. $35 for a three day, if one can get 2 weeks out of a single sensor they will save alot of money. Also, the seven is alot more accurate thant he previous one and includes many features (waterproof) that the original one didn't have.

It's only IPx7, not IPx8. Also, the old sensor could be used ad nauseum basically, so this one won't *really* last any longer. I guess the new upgrade costs $150 for current customers (you can't just start using the new sensors), and has a tendency to throw out readings.

So it's essentially a whole new system?

Well, you won't have to "reset" every 3 days so in a sense it does last longer. You can go the full week without having to do anything to the sensor.

From my understanding, the reciever is the same except it's programmed to accept and allow a 7 day sensor.
