Hi! My name is Jean. I have just joined the sight today. I am wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to be a diabetic even though the blood test say no? I have been losing weight slowly, more frequent urination and so many times I am so light headed that it is hard to function. Sometimes I am so tired, I wake up tired. But my test at the doctor's office keep coming up negative. I am beginning to feel a little loony. I have a brother with diabetes, my father had diabetes and my sister was just warned by her doctor that she was becoming diabetic. Could this pre-diabetes or hypoglycemia?

If you really don't believe the doctors tests, you could use your brothers meter and test while fasting and after meals. If he is too far away to do this, go to Wal-Mart and buy a blood glucose meter for about $25.00 and test.

Odds are, the doctors tests are correct. If you are not getting sufficient answers from your doctor then find another one that will check your symtoms out further.

Do you know your test values? I always get the exact values then listen to the doctor. You could be borderline and they say no because you are .001 below the cutoff.

I basically have all the symtoms for diabetes, and they came fast- **** fast even... Started on tuesday afternoon:eek: Yesterday i was probably drinking about 8 liters, just because i was thirsty all the time. Went to the bathroom so many times i lost count at 20 or something:T Woke up during the night last night having discomfort in my legs- felt like one of them muscle cramps were coming:( Went to the pharmacy this morning to buy a blood glucose meter- i'm currently visiting my parents and i've been living abroad for some time and want to wait with any visits to doctors until i get back home if possible. Anyways, me being in a village on the countryside, the local pharmacy is not very big... They didn't keep blood glucose meters in stock:o But they did have Clinistix... So bought those... And been testing a few times when i've been to bathroom today, all negative but i still feel all symtoms and when i look in the mirror even looks like i've lost some weight in the past few days, even though i've been eating like a horse this week. I'm going to buy a blood glucose meter in the pharmacy at home on monday, they sell it and i've seen they have more than one kind too... If my blood glucose is not too high, then i'll have to go to the doctor to have a total checkup to get some answers, and if my blood glucose is slightly high... well, then it is...

Personally i almost hoped for the test to come back superhigh today, just to have an answer to why the heck i've been feeling so thirsty, dizzy, need to go to toilet, extreme tiredness, constant hunger, headache, light stomachpain occasionally and bit blurry vision. Right now i don't have a clue what's going on:stupido3: Right now i'd rather get to know i have to take X injections everyday for the rest of my life, than just know nothing. I've been going to the doctor before for similar problems- like this but not nearly as bad... And never gotten an answer on my symtoms. It's driving me mad:banghead:

Sorry for long post and possibly hijacking the thread and being possibly a bit :topic: but... Point is...

Isn't it a pain to not have a diagnose on your symtoms:confused:

Anyways, if you don't know your exact numbers from the tests you've had, then it can't hurt to test at home. Maybe check your blood glucos at home several times per day for a day or 2.
