Smith's and Omnipod should merge. Omnipod and Cozmo are essentially the same pump feature wise, except that Cozmo is tethered and Omnipod isn't. The even both have the food database and the Freestyle meter. Than once the Navigator comes out it can merge with both pumps. That would give them a tethered and untethered pump option, and a CGMS option, and the company would be practically unstoppable.

Just a thought...

True, hence "practically."

I just wonder if the Navigator will merge/work with the Cozmo ever or not. This was in an SEC filing by Insulet (Omnipod) in February 2007....

"We have an agreement with Abbott Diabetes Care, Inc., a global healthcare company that develops continuous glucose monitoring technology, to develop a product that will integrate the receiver portion of Abbott’s continuous glucose monitor, the FreeStyle Navigator, with the OmniPod System PDM. "

Why build a product with two companies? I know Abbott did it with their Flash meter, but I think the Navigator is a totally different aspect in to look at.

Cause 2 companies gives them a wider customer base to sell their sensors to.

Do you know if the Omnipod has the Hypo manager feature?? In other words, will it recommend the number of carbs required to correct when a low bg is detected?:)

Omnipod does not have this feature as far as I know.

I think we can see Omnipod and Abbott merging at some point (cough, cough), considering that one of the VP's of Omnipod was a VP at Abbott in Marketing for several years before his changeover to Omnipod.

That, and the fact that Omnipod and Abbott's Navigator CGMS developers have been working together to "share data" between the devices.
