does anyone know about trx4 and trx3 antibodies and the treatment that is currently going on with tolRx company?
on the clinical trails.gov site, i found a clinical trial in my area that is goign on that is for people who are still producing insulin (me) and are type 1.
so the way this works, i went to the meeting there about it. is over 8 days there is a drug that is infused for two hours a day, 8 days consecutive. then they monitor you for about 8 hours after that.
okay,
sounds interesting right? i think, not 100% sure, this is kind of a "anti organ regection drug" infusion, and attacks the cells that attack the pancreas. well so in the first trial (i think 16 people ) 80% were off of insulin by 1 year. normal A1C, normal metabolic function.
so. after talking to these people, and my Dr (endo) (who was in favor of me doing the trial) i think i am going to do the trial. then over the next year or so you go in a few times and they check you out. well i am going to do the trial if i qualify when i do the bloodwork later this month. the side effects are some nausia during the infusion (IV infusion). they are going into the second set of trials for this drug and trying to figure out the proper dosage, thats what is going on during trial #2. different dosages. i have not been able to find any info online about side effects. oooh yeah, they said the other 20% who were not better after the treatment, were the same as before the treatment, no different.
anyways. does anyone know anything about this? anyone think i am crazy? ha.
thanks

by the way, my regine now is 21 units of lantus in the morning, novalog with meals on a 1:15 scale, and a no-transfat and no-soy diet. i've been type 1 for about 3 years, and am in pretty good control.
