I have been told that the pins and needles I sometime get is caused by neuropathy. Yet it seem to be worse in my left foot and leg.
I thought that it would be equal on both sides of the body. Anyone with this condition have any personally experiance which may shed some light?
Thank you kindly

I also have the same thing and take Neurontin (200 mg twice a day). It does not help much. I see several ads in diabetes magazines for several new drugs, but don't want to try anything that is new. Neurontin is basically an anti-seizure drug, but used to mask pain caused by neuropathy. It is not a cure. I don't know if there is a cure for that.
There also lotions that are applied to feet. These contain capsasin (I am not sure of the spelling) which are derived from hot peppers. These are also used for masking the pain. Careful! If you use these lotions, wash your hand immediately.

I tried Neurontin, too, as well as several other drugs. The only thing that has worked for me is Carbatrol. I've found the neuropathy is different in each hand and foot. I guess the problems you have will depend on the amount of nerve damage in each area.

I recently started neurontin first at 100mg then 200 mg per day. Mine feels like a cramp in my left arch. Neurontin seems to be woring fine but, my Dr said there are several others we could try too.

Well - I too have neuropathy. I was on Lyrica for a while, and as I started to controll my BG - the pain worsened. However, after a while - it started to go away. From time to time I'll still have some pains shoot down my leg or in my foot, but it's very tolerable compared to what it was. Luckily, this is one of the few things that can be reversed (depending on severity and reversed to a certain extent.)

Interesting post. I have neuropathy, it varies between my legs but once again I find it mainly occurs on my left side. As I get my sugars 'stabilised' (I wouldn't say controlled) I seem to be getting more pain in them. I get a deep ache, pins and needles, and a sharp stabbing pain in the back of my kneecap, as well as itchy feet. Appharently I've lost some sensation in my feet as well. Not yet been able to get any treatment for it but aparently theres a 'chilli cream' you can use to reduce the pain.

Hi Jedi, I also have neuropathy in my feet. Mine feels pretty equal in my feet although, some days my right ankle bites me more. Mine started as a numbness just below my toes. It has progressed to sometimes cramps, burning down the sides of my feet and a bit of ankle pain. I have had it for five or so years and it is not getting any better. I have been on Neurontin for about four years and tried Lyrica about two weeks ago. I gave up the Lyrica in a day. I could not take the dizziness that I experienced for hours.
Neuropathy does seem to get worse in the evening.

Dear Jedi,
I also have neuropathy in mu feet. My roght is worse. I take cymbalta (30 mg 2x a day) for the pain and the med. works quite well. My problem is that because of the nerve damage, I have suffered some bone deterioration in my feet and i wear orthodics in my sneakers always. No bare feet! Last winter my right foot had quite a few stress fractures in it and I was in a xast for 1 month. Due to the bone deterioration, my arch is falling and my podiatrist is keeping an eye out to try to keep me from developing charcot foot - this would result in not being able to walk because the bottom of your foor resembles a rocker on a rocking chair because the bones have fallen out of place. So, I suggest that you see a podiatrist to keep on top of the condition and try cymbalta.

(I don't think) I have diabetes but I also get really bad tingling sensations in my feet and hands and my lower legs, It comes and goes but it's particulary noticable at night when I'm just lying in bed.
