On Friday and again today, I went low really quickly - 54 on Friday and 51 today. I didn't black out, although I felt extremely out of it and got very overheated and shaky. It took a lot of glucose tablets & candy to get the numbers headed upward.

I'm taking Metformin HC 1000 mg with breakfast and another 1000 mg with dinner, plus I take 4 mg of Glimepiride each morning.

I've only been taking oral meds since April. Do you think this means my body has been adjusting down and now I'm taking too much in meds? Any ideas?

Have you been eating less than before? I ask because my Mom is on metaphormin and if she eats a lighter breakfast she always goes low before lunch.

If you haven't changed anything, and it continues, I'd contact your dr. Could be time for a dose change.

That could be the case. If this happens again and again, I would certainly get the glimepiride dose reduced. Even if it was once the correct dose, you may have less need for it if you are getting your insulin resistance down by whatever means.

I would notify my doctor immediately. He will likely want to reduce your medication, probibly the glimepiride.

I also take 1000 mg of metformin and I used to take glipizide now I take actos for that reason. Glipizide is known for low swings. I don't know if glimepiride is the same type as glipizide. They sound related.
