Is byetta given in shot form. I don't know much about it and I was just wondering. I am type 2 on oral meds only.

Byetta is injected but it is not insulin. Developed for type 2 diabetics, it helps your body produce the right amount of insulin at the right time.

No, it's injected but not insulin. It slows gastric emptying to decrease appetite and prevent post-prandial spikes.

I have heard such wonderful things about Byetta, so I go to my doctor last month and asked him to prescribe it for me. He had never heard of it. So I wanted to give him some information and found out it is not yet available in Canada!! ******

You might want to contact them here:

Banting and Best Diabetes Centre (http://www.bbdc.org/index.htm)

They are one of the primary leads in Byetta research in CA I believe. Also...maybe contact the manufacturers - they may be willing to give you a timeline for CA approval:

It's synthesized Gila Monster Venom. It similates an enzyme called GPL1 and tricks the pancreas into secreting insulin.
