Also i thought that as long as its kept at the correct temperature it would keep for ages... but someone told me other wise, so how long can i keep it for when its refridgerated?

Novarapid starts working 4-8 minutes after injecting so inject it either just before or just after you eat. It stops working after about an hour.

Like most other insulins, you should be able to keep it refrigerated for quite a while, 3 months or so, and you can keep it at room temp for around 1 month.

I believe Novorapid is another company's version of Lilly's Humalog (or vise-versa). If that is the case, it should kick in about 15 minutes after injection.

I think technically you're supposed to throw it away after it's been open for about 28-30 days.

Yeah, novarapid is Novo Nordisk's analogue insulin, although it's more aggressive than humalog and starts work slightly quicker -I've actually had hypos DURING eating a big meal once or twice.

That really is fast-acting. I bet you have to be a little careful w/ the stuff!

I thought you could keep a vial of insulin at least until it's expiration date. In fact, I was told that the expiration date put on insulin is 6 months prior to it's actual expiration date so it would still be good a little past that time.

NovoRapid, like Deus said, can be stored at room temp for about a month. The package insert says 28 days. There's some controversy as to how long it can be refrigerated for once it's been opened; novo-nordisk says 3 months (introduction of air compromises sterilization and stability of proteins).

Novo-nordisk has the specs for Novorapid stating that it's activity onset is 10-20 minutes. Of course that's a YMMV thing.

i agree with Deus, it definately starts working quick!! i always take it right before i eat my food, just in case!!

I store mine in the fridge till i need it, and then keep the pen in my bag... one pen lasts me a week-ish, so ive never had the month problem...
