been on the pump now little more than a month. loving it. it makes working out so much easier, and sleeping feels safer now.
However, i am currently on a total daily dose of about 3 to 4 units. it is tricky. eating a burger meal for me requires 1.3 units(novorapid). My minimed 522 only does basals in 0.05 units, and sometimes thats too much. like after a tough workout. I hear the animas does 0.025. Do you think that would make a difference? I might try to get that one next time, although i dont expect my honeymoon to last forever.
Do you guys prime the cannula after detaching for a shower for example?

I don't, but you are a totally different animal. Actually, I don't take it off for showers. I hang it from the top of the curtain. It helps to be 6' tall and have shelves to put soap and stuff on.

Personally, I don't see .025 units making any difference for me, but if you are that sensitive, I suppose it could. Why not just disconnect completely if you are going low after workouts? You are talking about such a small amount of insulin.
The only time you prime or fill the canula is when you put in a new set.
It's not unheard of to become more insulin-sensitive when switching to a pump. Because you're taking these micro-doses instead of one big injection of basal, your body is able to more efficiently absorb the insulin, rather than it "pooling".
When I first switched to a pump, I needed diluted Humalog (U-50) for the first 6 months in order to adjust my basals.
If it were me, I would experiment with suspending basal during and after (maybe 1 hour) a workout, or using high-protein snacks with some carbs afterwards to boost that BG when you're most susceptible to lows.
This is going to be a bunch of trial-and-error for you, but I doubt that it will last forever. Your honeymoon will end, your body will adapt to the mechanisms of pumping, and your insulin needs will surely rise. In the end, I wound up on about the same amounts of basal and bolus pumping that I had been taking via injection. I just went through a little "valley" in my daily totals.
After a shower, I prime for whatever basal was missed while I was disconnected. That way, the basal doesn't get counted twice in my daily totals.

The Animas does have the smallest basal increments from what I understand, but I don't believe this applies to boluses (not sure why). If it is finer tuning of the basals that you are after, it sounds like you could benefit from a pump that would allow finer tuning of your basals.
With regards to showering, I never refill the cannula after I shower.

The .025 might make a difference for you. I was honeymooning when I started my pump though, and my insulin needs went up rapidly afterward.
You can alternate basals. IE, 0.05 for 2 hours, 0 for 2, 0.05 for 2 hours, 0 for 2, etc. You can alternate every hour even, but you are limited in how many segmants your basal patterns can have. I know it's 48 for Cozmo, but have no clue for MM.
