I have been working a swing shift for about two years now working 2 or 3 12 hours nights then finish the rest of the week on days. Prior to this everything was going very well and now it has all went down hill. I cannot keep my BS controlled and
A1C has steadily increased. Now the doc wants to try sliding scale insulin or Bayetta. Any fellow night people or any one for that matter have suggestions!
Post up some details about your routine on your work days and off days: For both, when do you take your meds? How much and what time? What times do you work? What times do you get up on off days? Do you exercise? etc.
BTW, welcome to the forum.

I work 12 hour nights 3 days a week and like to be awake during the day the other nights and I honestly don't think I could do it without using an insulin pump.
You might be ok if you went on Lantus once a day plus the sliding scale, or fast acting insulin based on carb intake.
