I was considering upgrading to the new Animas pump (2050 or whatever it is called). I have the 1250 now. Has anyone upgraded? What are advantages and disadvantages? Does it remember things now like BS reading? My pump isn't that old, but if the new one is better, think it may be worth upgrading. I have a big scratch on the face that is irritating--not sure how it got there. Is it much different--would I have to be retrained? Any info. would be appreciated. Thanks.

My advice............WAIT !! At least till the software becomes available, it completes the pump package !
I got my 2020 in April, not knowing the software wasn't ready. I like the pump, the screen is real nice, easy to see and read, but I really look forward to having software too !!

What about the memory? My 1250 keeps some of what you put in, but not BG reading. I have to go back and get that from the meter. Would be great if you could get all you need to take to Dr. out of just the pump. Does the 1250 and the 2020 use the same software?? Wonder where they get these numbers?

not the same software..........something on th 1250 isn't compatible with the 2020. I'm not a PC whiz, so I can't really say, but I'm told by Aniimas old software will not work with the new pump.
As far as getting "all" info from pump,........... why not.........but You would have to put in BG readings manually (ie when pump figures dose for You ) Still easier to bring pump and BG meter with You to Endo's office, I think. Just my opinions !!

I've used both the 1250 and 2020. Until Animas provides a larger reservoir and starts storing both bg and carb data, I won't be upgrading...

THeir website still says it stores that info on the 2020. However, I think it can ONLY be taken out via the computer software.

IMO, if the data is there it should be accessible via the pump firmware and shown in the history.

Ditto
The Cozmo handles this fairly well, but I wish there was a way to see "carb history" instead of having to look at carbs from the bolus history. Only complaint. You can see total carbs from the delivery summary menu as well, and bg history is viewable separately.

When I read the description of the pump storing the BS I was under the impression it would only store your last BS not all of them. The 2020 does have some nice features, IMO none of them are worth the upgrade fee. I plan on waiting an other 2 years to get a new one.

500....quote from Animas site...
"Comprehensive Memory
Store your last 500 carb and blood glucose values, in addition to your previous 500 boluses, 120 daily totals, 30 alarms, 60 primes, 30 suspends and 270 basal records."

Yeah, nice that it stores 500 events, too bad you can't see them. It's like a computer with a huge hard drive and no monitor.

Nope. It's got the communications/networking - it's just a client/server architecture, implemented without the client software. ;)
Couldn't resist. :D
cheers,

It's a server with no command line or GUI!
