My wife won a all expenses paid trip to Turks and Caicos. Surprize! so what do I do with the pump and the sand?. I think I have the heat covered but the sand really has me worried. Does anyone here SCUBA dive? I could also use some suggestion with this one. When I was on MDI I could dive but on the pump? I suppose I'll disconnect but a diabetic on a dive is usually frowned upon I'll have to connect and then there's the infusion site. I have always disclosed to buddies and dive masters but never to others.

VinceF, I went to the Turk Caicos with my pump. I also went diving. I did disclose my diabetes and had no trouble with the pump. We went out on the boat and I wore my pump on the way out and then took it off to dive. I didn't bother capping the site, but you can if you like. The dive went fine, and I had no problems not wearing my pump as I was expending enough energy to keep my blood sugar in check. I did test just before my dive and tested when we returned. The sand did not bother my pump at all during the trip and I really wouldn't worry about it. Your pump is waterproof so it is also sand proof. Rinse it off (make sure there are no cracks) and you will be fine.
I am taking a trip to Mexico on Sunday. We will be staying in Playa Del Carmen on the beach and I don't anticipate any problems with my pump. I am however, taking a bottle of Lantus for backup. Don't leave your pump on a beach unattended.
Have a wonderful trip!!!!
