It's now 1:30 am and, instead of being asleep like a normal person, I'm awake. Wide awake, and all amped up. Why? Because I just received another No Delivery alarm. Shockingly, I received one for missed basal and I heard it before it started screaming. As usual, it was a kinked Quick Set. I want to love these things, I really do- they're painless, easy to insert one-handed for hard to reach places- but I can't keep changing out kinked sets. *sighs*

I'm using the 6mm Quick Sets, and the majority of the kinks are happening in my stomach. I only have Abs of Steel in my dreams, so that's not the problem, but I am fairly lean and muscular. I think that I tend to crimp them when I bend at the waist, but walking around on pins and needles because I'm afraid of kinking the set isn't working for me anymore. Is it possible that the 6mm ones are still too long for me?

So, which way should I go? Sure-Ts, or 13mm Silhouettes? I need Paradigm-compatible sets. I used 17mm Sils for years, but they were always too deep (as I discovered when I switched to the 6mm QSs and my daily totals plummeted) and the 13mm ones didn't come out until after I made the QS switch. Sure-Ts sound great, but I strongly prefer the longer tubing. What's a girl to do?

Thanks for listening, and for your advice.

I use Accu-check tender infusion sets and I only have trouble if I hit a muscle. I also have trouble if I do not take a hot shower before I put it in, it seems to loosen up my skin and make it easier to get through, this somehow also keeps it from kinking after it is in.

I really like the Tender though, I have been using them for several years. Usually in my thigh.

I woke up high (180), took a correction bolus, and rode my bike to work. Upon arriving, my BG was 235. Sure enough, another kinked set- second one in less than 12 hours. :banghead:

I'm going to call my endo's office as soon as they open and see if they can hook me up with some sample sets until I can return and replace the 4 boxes of Quick Sets that I have.

Anyone ever do a "set swap" with Minimed? How did it go? I assume that you pay for the new ones up front and they credit your credit card once they receive the old ones....
