Hey Everyone,
I'm a 52 year old male. I've been type II diabetic for over ten years. Last summer I couldn't get my blood sugar under control and was moved over to insulin. After being on Humalog 75/25 injections for about three months one evening I took my shot and went into anaphylatic shock. It turns out I'm allergic to insulin! Great, huh? Anyway, I'm now on an insulin pump, which my body tolerates because it's introduced so slowly into my system.
So anyway, that's my story and I just wanted to say hi. :)

Thanks for the welcome, everyone! Great to have found this place.
Yeah, iDream . . . it wasn't pretty. :( Until they straightened it out with the pump I ended up in the ER twice and several more emergency visits to the allergist, along with carrying an epipen. Actually, one interesting thing that seemed to be making it worse was my blood pressure med, lisinipril (sp?), which is normally supposed to be beneficial to diabetics. Evidently ace inhibitors can actually magnify an allergic reaction. Anyway, it's ****ed rare to actually be allergic to insulin, lucky me. Why can't I hit those odds with the lottery? :o
