Who's heard of Kefir??

I was just reading Rick Mendosa's newsletter and he listed a new cookbook -The Four Corners Diet -some of it's low carb and it's written by docs and mentions a delicious Kefir drink that was low carb also and quite beneficial for us. Anyone heard of it ?? Am thinking about checking it out. Wonder if they'll ship to Canada?? Anyone in the states want to try it out first and let me know<smile>??

I will try to get the recipe to make it homemade as it's cheaper.
Might be interesting to give it a shot especially if it's so beneficial to keeping our gastrointestinal tract in a healthy condition.

Wow! It has been a long long time since I've heard about kéfir.

I've tried kéfir (a long while ago). Even if I tried to introduce it very slowly into my diet it didn't agree with me. But I've suffered from lactose intolerance on and off. That could have been the problem. Found the home made one was much better to the taste. Would have given you the recipe but just can't find it. I must have gotten rid of it since I had so much probs with it. I'll give it another try, just in case I find it.

I hear there are Kefir machines similar to the yogurt making machines. I also am hearing that Kefir is like a "Yop" or thin
yogurt with a bit of fermentation and not so sweet. Now I'm wondering what the appeal is???? Wonder how long it ferments........................................<smile>

Umm, I like strawberry keffir lol
It tastes like Yop yes, just a bit more sour :p
