Hey all.

I finally called Medtronics of Canada and asked the poor lady every question I could think of  My contact is off on sickleave but the lady that I talked to was fantastic. Man they are sooo helpful there :)

OK here's the update:

The Link meter has finally been approved by Health Canada. You think we're gonna get it soon? H-e-double hockey sticks no. Apparently now there's a distribution problem on BD's end; basically they weren't thinking we were going to be approved and didn't manufacture the darn meters. So now they're hopeful that it will be out by the end of July. I'm starting to think this is a hoax.
The Polyfin Sets have been vetoed in Canada by the big wigs (how come I didn't get asked??) and won't be manufactured here. Arrg, how dare they?? I am going to write them an email giving them a mouthful. Anyone who wants to join is welcome; PM me I'll send you the email addy. Maybe if enough people spam them they'll change their minds. Of course it may only be Kat and I that this applies to lol.

Oh BTW, that energizer e2 battery I used only lasted me about 4 weeks; less than the energizer Max. And I tried two of them out too for quality control :p Stick to the Max.

Do you even have to ask? Send me that email right away lol

It's not that I'm crazy about that meter ,but they sure did promise it to us a long time ago

Man I'v been lazy, I didn't see any Fedex guys with some free sets lately :p I need to complain more hehehe

"Listen you goofs, for every day I'm waiting for that meter I'm geting a free set or else" :p

Or better yet - "I'm sending Shalyndria aka Totsie Vavoom after you" lol

LOL Kat that's Trixie Vavoom lol selective memory girl :p
OK email addy coming your way.

Oh when I talked to the lady about the meter she asked me if there was anything they could give me to make it easier lol I actually refused. I said well I don't think there's anything you can give me that will supplement the meter lol. You can bet when we finally do get the things I'm gonna do my best to get the Solutions software for free hehe. They'll give it to me too ;)

No Kat, no response as of yet. I was told by the lady we emailed that she has forwarded it to her superior so now I guess we just wait  I haven't had a huge response from Canadian pumpers though; I think I might call my minimed rep and see if he can pass the word along.
Hey thanx again for emailing them :)

Hi Shy,

I'd definitely like to help if possible. In another thread, you posted that Minimed was offering the Paradigm Polyfins in the US, but I still haven't seen them available in the online store. Maybe that whole thing is a hoax, both here and in Canada?

Thanks Dewey, you're a doll :D
Strangely enough the Polyfins aren't on the online store for Paradigms yet. If you look on their website in product info though, they're listed under paradigm with a stock number and everything. Only 24' tubing though :(
I've never ordered anything through the online store (in Canada we have to deal direct via phone with the ordering desk) so I'm not too sure how that works. Maybe they've just been lax at updating the website?

Oh here's a little snippet of an email that Medtronics of Canada sent in reply to my email:
We currently don't have the Health Canada license at this time to sell the Polyfin product for Paradigm customers in Canada today. Historically the market demand for this product is small in Canada however you have a very valid point that those with potential allergies to the cannula may find this product to be beneficial. Therefore I will look into the feasibility of licensing this product for the Canadian market so it could be supplied to this segment. I'll ensure Kathy can keep you updated on our progress.

Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Why do I bother  ????
