Today I was at 123 before lunch. I bolused about 10 minutes before eating a salad. It was about 3 units. Right in the middle of eating my vision got really blurry. I quickly drank some OJ. I felt like I was going to pass out. I checked my blood sugar and blood pressure and they were both fine. My head started to hurt like never before so I took a 2 hour nap, and now I feel fine. I have no idea what just happened, but I think that my blood sugar was going low from bolusing too soon before the meal. I didn't get shakey though like I usually do when I go low...

It might be a good idea to ask your endo about your episode. There might be something else going on. Since you checked your BG level, you weren't really that low. Hope you get an answer.

Insulin doesn't work that fast, not even close. If you had a sudden drop in BGs it was due to your morning bolus or your basals. But your BGs were fine suggesting it was something else.

It's sounds like it could be an anxiety attack. Have you ever had those before?

Too bad it doesn't. I wish they had faster acting insulins...

How about Apidra? My understanding is that it is much faster than even Novolog.

The insulin action profiles are near identical for Humalog, Novolog, and Apidra. Any differences people experience are an individual thing.

As an aside, why were you bolusing for a Salad? Unless the salad IS my main meal and has tons of stuff in it, I never bolus for one..........

(I assume this was the case for you, but I was just curious)

I tried it and unfortunately it did not work as well as Novolog. For me, the Novolog seemed to work faster and was more effective in driving down my bg.

I always bolus for salad. And if it has cheese or meat in it, I do an extended bolus for that portion. Usually salad is my main meal, but even if not I still bolus based on the size of the salad and the contents.
