Nuts work for me too. I keep a can at home and at work so that when I'm craving something I shouldn't have I have some nuts. If I'm craving sweets I try to keep some sugar free jello on hand as well.

Make sure if you use peanut butter it is the kind with "no sugar added". I was surprised how many peanut butter jars listed sugar in the ingredients.

I guess everyone is different, but I use regular "JIF" peanut butter with no problems with blood sugar. Perhaps the fat helps prevent my spike...but we're all different and your results may vary. I tried "natural" peanut butter and didn't care for the taste or the separation.

Celery and Peanut Butter...

of course that just adds POUNDS of fat to your belly, so it's not a really good choice.

Yea, but hoisting those 55 gallon drums of Peter Pan into the back of my truck really takes it off!!

After a jar of the natural, I couldn't go back. Both have carbs, but the quantity is small. I eat it every morning but never account for it.

I eat lots of cheese. Once in awhile I'll buy some paté, but usually that involves some sort of cracker. I like bell peppers. I'll take a whole one and dig in.

Bell peppers make an excellent platform for pate.

Sugar snap peas are awesome too! (never would have said those words when I was a kid!) They are FULL of fibre! (our new best friend!)

I usually have a snack a couple hours before bed, and if my BGs are above optimal come snack time, I'll often just cook up a couple of eggs and have those as a snack. Not the most healthful alternative to have often, but they are easy on the BG..

Yeah i was skeptical about the peanutbutter for sugar sake, but is 3 gm really that much? P.S. i hate olives.

Probably the only things that don't affect my bg are lettuce, pickles (cucumbers) and celery...
