Can someone give me an idea as to what I can eat before bedtime to keep my glucose reading from dropping down too low during the night. My glucose reading at bedtime can be just fine, but I usually have to have several gulps of juice during the night to keep it from coming down too low. Thanks much.

Eviitta,
Maybe a little carb with protein to keep the bg up a little longer? Like a few cheese and crackers or pb crackers?
Hi, Eviitta, and welcome.
From my personal experience, either an apple or a graham cracker eaten before bedtime seems to keep my BGs from getting too low. Hope this helps.

Evitta,
I was told, like Jenny said, some carb with protein. It works very well and I don't have many night lows any more.

When I was in the diabetes hospital we were given a snack of cheese and crackers each evening about 9 o'clock.

Are you taking insulin? It sounds like you may need to adjust your basil insulin to keep you from going low at night. Just a thought.

I was told to have a glass of milk or yogurt (anything dairy) and it will keep my blood sugar stable during the night.
It works for me!

I normally have a sandwich or a bowl of cerial, unless I have been drinking in which case I need more. My body is a bit wierd though. I feel ill if I eat anything before lunch time but my stomach seems to wake up and demand more food later in the day, so you probably won't need as much as me at bed time.

Just depends on what night,
I'm one of those who gets Very Bored with a routine(in fact, according to my wife, I don't know the defintion of the word " Routine")
so for me, I switch around, crackers and cheese one night, peanut butter and crackers another, an apple, an orange, thin ham slices rolled up in One slice of wheat bread, one chocolate graham cracker, one piece of Hersey's semi-sweet chocolate, grapes, cherries--------whatever's around and fits my mood:)
