Today I had a root canal and now I can't eat any solid food such as meat. Do you guys have any suggestion low carb liquid food or soft semi solid food?

Thanks,
Sam

I had my wisdom teeth pulled the week before I went on my pump in 2001--terrible. Keep in mind today is your best day as far as pain...tomorrow will be a little (maybe a lot) worse. I remember I was all cocky the day I had my teeth extracted because that night I was eating normally. The next day, OMG.

Listen, eat what you can. Yeah yeah yeah you want to consume your nutrients and watch your blood sugars, but at certain times the need to EAT outweighs other factors, and this may be one of those times. I had mashed potatoes (and bolused a lot), sugar-free pudding, yogurt (and bolused A LOT), etc. I read somewhere that a great low-carb alternative to mashed potatoes is mashed cauliflower...

Sam, hope you're feeling okay...I hate ANYTHING dental!
Do you think you could manage soft scrambled eggs? That would be filling. S/F jello or pudding, broth or campbells chicken noodle soup (one 1/2 cup serving = 8 carbs..but it is high in sodium).. Maybe some low-carb icecream or even one of the protein shakes if you have them on hand(just don't use a straw!). Hope your day passes quickly and pain-free.

Cottage cheese. Danon lite and fit lo carb smooties and yogurt. Anderson's Split Pea soup appears to be high carb but is lo Glycemic Index.

When I got my wisdom teeth pulled I lived on soup. Egg drop soup (chicken broth with egg, very easy to make) was probably the most satisfying, other soups are good too, just read the nutrition info to find out about carbs, there are low carb and high carb kinds of soup.

Anything you can put in the blender is also great, you could boil or steam veggies and then blend them (make baby food for yourself basically). Don't forget about sugar free yogurt, pudding and jello.

The others have given some great food suggestions such as scrambled eggs, sugar free jello & pudding, the Dannon smoothies & yogurts are terrific. Ice cream is also very good and you could add some milk and make a shake.

Wishing you a speedy recovery, Sam.
