I was in the middle of a river in Nebraska when it was time to eat, so instead of stopping because of the current I had to inject while on the raft, if you can do that your pretty **** good! Anybody have a really crazy situation like this too?

Sort of.
In a learjet - redeye flight, as I had ride priviledge in a small overnight freight express company. This is flying west, so I am two hours time difference from home, and it is just getting light outside, but it was time for me to eat my carry on breakfast sandwich. So, at 30,000 feet, in a learjet with cargo, pilot, copilot, me - I took my insulin.

My son did his third set change ever at a pool party, sitting on the deck. I thought that was pretty brave.

Back when I was a camper...we were at Dixie Stampede in Tennessee (a dinner show type place) we utilized the Men's bathroom as our testing/shot giving location so as to not disturb other customers. It was pretty funny.
Once I forgot to pack my needles for an overnight at a friend's house (and was too embarrassed to call my mom) so I squirted everything out of the glucagon needle and used that. I had to take something like 5 shots over the course of the evening/night with that big needle (ouch!) My bs was perfect the next morning.

In a dark movie theater, dialed up took my shot , then the cap to the Novolog pen rolled away, waited till movie was over and looked under a couple of seats and found it.

You don't want to ask me what I was doing there, but 20-30 feet up in a tree more than once.

I don't think I ever injected anywhere really crazy. I wasn't on shots long.
One time I was having lunch with a friend and she was telling me about how she had been diagnosed with leukemia. She didn't know I was diabetic at the time. I had to bolus for the meal so I pulled out a syringe and injected through my jeans discreetly. She saw. She went from feeling bad she had leukemia, to saying how glad she was that she didn't have diabetes. I was amazed. I was like, I'll keep my diabetes, thanks.

Oh lordy! I never thought of the "peeping tom" thing. Now I will have to elaborate. I was in a tree blind when we were doing some observations (many years ago) on some bird species. I had to pack my lunch as well as the medication. I didn't participate in this one, but one of the researchers made an artificial floating muskrat house to take photographs of some water birds and that would have been a bigger challenge to take the insulin there than in the tree.

Had to chime in on this thread. When my son, Carson was 3 and I also had a 7 week old newborn, I took a flight to KS to visit my family, with just me and the boys. (Yes, that was a crazy idea).
So we are waiting to board the plane, I checked Carson's blood sugar and it was sky high. At the same time he stood up and his diaper was completely soaked through. Then they called us to board. Then the baby had a huge nasty diaper that also soaked through.
I somehow changed the baby's diaper, we get in line to get on the plane, get into our seats, and then I started getting Carson out a new diaper along with alcohol wipes, a syringe and a vial of humalog. Gave him a shot, changed the diaper and got a lot of weird stares from passengers boarding the plane. Needless to say, I never traveled like that again. Now the baby is almost 4, Carson is 7, and I'm just beginning to get brave enough to travel alone w/them again :)

I once did it while driving on the highway, seems pretty stupid in retrospect.

Ditto on this post. I have also changed an infusion site while driving, even more stupid looking back on it. Besides that, I got nothing.

The Royal Palace in Bangkok, Thailand. I was doing the tourist bit on the last day of a business trip. The Palace itself is fantastic, but there are gun toting Thai guards near the gate in a country where they do away with you fairly swiftly if you have anything to do with drugs. I know that Insulin isn't drugs in the 'international incident' way of things, but try telling your brain that when you need to whack in a couple of units. They wouldn't let you in this place if you were wearing a t-shirt or shorts (have to be covered up) so you may understand my nerves :) No-one noticed. In fact I've injected at restaurant tables whilst in mid-conversation with people and they've not noticed but that's the subtle art of distraction...
Fab country (or what little of it I was fortunate enough to see anyway)

And I thought it was the Dream Cruise that had the traffic backed up over the weekend...j/k.
I too am guilty. I've done pump sites, cartridges, finger pokes, syringe shots, pen shots (which are probably the easiest) and I was probably on the phone (booth tooth though) at the same time.

Tried this trick myself. I tested first (while driving), then injected while driving at about 75mph. Same retrospect thought. :stupid1:
