I do not eat or greatly reduced some foods I like because of the way they effect my sugar. I do not have a sweet tooth....but I love potatos. I might more than love them. I could be addicted to them. Its been hard pulling away....breaking up with potatos.

I check the over 200 and the stricter diet. I am not consistently over 200 5x/week, but occasionally. I prefer to learn how to manage the foods I want to eat, it may take some time to tweak it, but I find I can eat most things without going too high after.

Interesting poll. Can't wait to see how it evolves...

I checked the box that said that I felt my control would be better if I was more strict with my diet. Right now, I eat whatever I want, and I think that my control is really good. (knock on wood!) I do think though, that if I started a low-carb diet that my A1c would be even lower.

Ironic-I was just hospitalized due to diabetes (details in the "vent" thread in Diabetes).

I feel my control would be better if I followed a stricter diet- If i ate less carbs and more healthy foods,
I feel quite ill when low- i seem to be highly aware now and get more severe smptoms at higher (but still hypo) levels
I've been hospitalized related to diabetes excluding diagnosis- 1 week in 2006 for high blood sugars, and x3 for low blood sugars, but not once in 2007

Wow, so far almost half of us feel we could have better control with a stricter diet. Guess I'm not alone there.

I will not eat if my blood sugar is over 200/11.1 until it goes down and
I regularly don't eat foods I like because I fear the effect they'll have on my blood sugar and I feel quite ill when low
If I am over 140, I will not eat. I bolus a correction to get to the 90's, then eat and bolus half way though for the carbs. Stricter diet?, nah, see my second pick.

I know I eat the wrong kind of food. I've been thinking about changeing my diet for some time now. But to go from thinking to actually DO something about it.. I lack the willpower :(

then eat and bolus half way though for the carbs.
I mean that to say "I bolus half way through the meal".

I voted that I won't eat if my blood sugar is 200, or over, but I also get more then 5 hypos a week, and most of the time I don't go over 200 but you get one of those weeks LOL.....
Oh yea and the stricter diet too, but my number one thing is not to eat if my bg is over 200 but if I am elevated I eat a really high fat meal, something really bad for you, so like then my blood sugar goes down LOL.....

Though I'm not T1 (dx T2 - possible T1.5) .....
Before insulin, some of those choices applied to me, but now, since insulin, that has all changed. Except, I don't just have a free for all with food!! BUT I will sometimes have a "treat" and bolus for it :0)
My control since starting on insulin has been pretty much perfect! YaY

Checked (only) over 200 5x/week. I tend to run 200-250 two hours after breakfast pretty much every day, regardless of what I eat or where I was at before eating. For whatever reason, my insulin response seems to be slower at that time of day.
