Hello all,
as I have read so much of your stories during the last year and I am so grateful because reading your stories gave me so much hope and strength I would like to share our story.
My boyfriend Andreas, now 30 got Diabetes when he was a child. Last year he suddenly started to see very bad on his left eye, kind of a blurry vision. We went to a special doctor and he told us it is because of diabetics and he has to get laser treatment on both eyes.
Until summer there followed many sessions of laser treatment and Andreas really had problems to see, furthermore he had also a swollen makula.
In summer it seemed to be better and we went on holidays. When we came back one evening in september he suddenly told me that he can see blood in his left eye. This was really a shock. Again we went to the doctor and he got some laser again and finally in december an injection in his left eye.
In spring this year it seemed to be better and I have been on a business trip when Andreas called me and told me he sees blood in his left eye again. For the following weeks not even the left but also the right eye started to bleed. Very small bleedings and the doctor told us they will resorb but to see the blood in front of his eyes was horrible for andreas. He saw 60% on the right eye and 30% on the left.
He got a small laser treatment and two injections, one into the right and one into the left eye. This was in April and June.
Since then the situation improved. He really started to see every day a little bit better and he even can again read quite small letters.
Today he had an appointment at the eye doctor and he told him that the makula is not swollen and that he sees 100% on the right and 60% on the left eye.
During the last 1,5 years we really had a nightmare behind us and a really hard fight and sometimes really wanted to give up but I wanted to share this story with you as firstly the reading of your stories really helped me during the last year and the second thing is I want you all to know that heaven thanks nowaday due the good technical possibilites there is really hope and nobody should every give up because the modern medicine can do so much and everyday they try to find new possibilites of treatment!!!
