I have just read a fantastic claim that Alzheimer’s Disease is nothing more than Diabetes of the Brain.

Anyone else hear this lately. Literally Insulin Resistance in the Brain causing this?

Could you post a link for this article?? I would be interested in having a look at it. There have been 2 family members that have been diagnosed with Alzheimer's and they both have Type 2 diabetes....

Ok here goes:

BBC NEWS | Health | Study suggests 'type 3 diabetes' (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/4315609.stm)

Diabetes & the Brain - HealthyUpdates.com (http://www.healthyupdates.com/diabetes/news/content?cid=304&ctid=3)

LifeScan Diabetes News -- Type 2 diabetes tied to brain atrophy in the elderly (http://www.lifescan.com/professionals/hcp/news/20070607clin002/)

I hope this helps but I suspect that this information is so new that there will be a lot more to come.

I would get a hold of some of this stuff to see if this helps:

Diabetic Nutritional Supplement, Neuropathy Treatment, Enzyme Transketolase - Benfotiamine.Net (http://benfotiamine.org/)

I don't doubt it. I have an older friend whose mother was T2 and eventually got dementia from it. That is scary.
