Wow! What beautiful eyes! I don't see any spots near the center...that's good, right?

Yes, a clear center is very good.
People have asked my where all the burn marks from the 3,000 zaps are and whether those black marks were hemmhorrages.
These pics are of the macular region. There are large areas not shown. I managed to sneak into my opto's office to get these, and it took a few minutes to figure out how to export and burn them. I didn't get copies of the peripheral images as he had a patient waiting and my time was gone.
Compare to this image.

This pic shows large areas of lasered tissue. You can see the untouched macula in the center. Mine are similar.
The blackened areas are scarring. All doc said was they can turn that color over time.
I think the most difficult part is the realization that these burned areas are dead and the vision is gone. It will never come back. It's sacrificed for that little plot of rich land in the middle.

Thanks for the pics and explanations John.
Why is the vision gone if the burned area isn't in the macula region?

Thanks for the pics and explanations John.
Why is the vision gone if the burned area isn't in the macula region?
Peripheral vision is affected mostly: seeing to the sides and depth perception mostly I think. And the whole periphery is not killed, just significant amounts. When I had my hemms and a big blood clot in the center, I still had depth perception. I'm not sure why my central vision is affected. I bet the periphery adds to its clarity as well. Seems I read an 80/20 rule somewhere.
Another thing I'm not clear about is why my vision is worse in the vitrectomized eye. It's peripheral visio is much reduced and I have at least two extra blind spots, bottom-left and bottom-center about a finger-width apart.
They're delicate yet resiliant organs.

I get my eyes checked on the 18th. Now I want copies of my pictures too.
