Do you wear some form of ID

Hello everyone - I wondered if you are wearing an ID bracelet or necklace or some other kind of ID.

Currently I do not, but I wonder if I should. I'm T2, not on medication but my concern is if I am in an accident and unconscious it is my understanding that the emergency people will start an IV of some kind of glucose solution and I sure don't want them doing that. I typically do not experience lows so I am not afraid at this time of being unconscious from a low.

I wear a neoprene bracelet with "Diabetic" stiched into it.

:hello: Hello Dawn.... Its not a bad idea. I wear one because im diabetic,have a stint,and take blood thinners for life,so in my case,its really important. I found a great one after many days of searching. It closes with velcro,so it doesnt flop or spin around on your wrist,and its engraved on the back.

I should wear an ID since I'm on insulin, but on a limited budget, can't afford a gold one and am allergic to other medals. But I DO carry a bright orange card in my wallet in front of my license stating that I am a Diabetic. Also have one on the dashboard of my car.

I wear a metal band that says diabetes on it. I also carry a card in my wallet.

I'm a type 1 and I don't even wear ID. I have a wallet card, but I never got around to writing my info on it.

I wear a metal chain and tag that says Diabetic and card in wallet.But i just ordered a Medic Alert bracelet(the cheapest one)because i take 27 pills a day+insulin and i have Parkinson.So i need a form of bracelet that will give the medical staff all my files.Bye Ricky

i wear a neclace...and have a wallet card...im only a prediabetic bit sometimes go lo or have very rapid drops on bg...stimes 90-100 mgs in 10 -30 min...

just in case i go lo and start acting funny...tho i never passed out. i also have othr health conditions so its best i wear one

I'm a type 1 and I wear a medic alert but I only did that when my son was diagnosed 3 years ago. I've been diabetic for 16 years, go figure. But yes I wear one.

I'm a type 1 pumper and wear a gold medical ID bracelet. I never take it off.

Yes I wear one as well. Mine is a leather braided band with just a plate that syas Diabetes on it. My Dr and my husband insisted on it so I wanted something that blended in with the rest of these things my 9 yr old keeps putting on my arm. lol

I also keep a card in my purse with the meds I am on and my Dr's info on it.

I wear the pink beaded one that MedicAlert sells. I have a few other ones from MedicAlert, but the pink one is the only one engraved with "Insulin Pump" as well as "Diabetes, Hypertension, Allergic to PCN, Sulfa, Iodine". The other MA bracelets I have, just have the rest of the stuff on there...didn't have a pump when I got those ones. I also like the pink one because it doesn't have that really difficult clasp on it, the one that takes two hands to open it...lol.

My husband and 5th child have MA bracelets as well. My husband and I keep the wallet cards behind our driver's licenses and I got one of those self-stick business card holders to attach PJ's wallet card to her carseat.

Dawn, you bring up a really good point for anyone heavily on medication or in a risky situation. But as a non medicine user, I would think that if you had a situation where you were not conscious, worrying about a temp BG spike would be the least of your concerns.
I never heard of emergency medical people going through peoples wallets, but maybe they do.

Hi, Search and Rescue/former EMT here -- if it wasn't on your wrist and distinctive, we didn't see it. A lot of kids around my area wear religious-themed bracelets, and I know some who have carved or inked "Diabetic" into them. I've tried to tell them that's never going to work...
