I am seeing my doc tomorrow and on my last visit I said while my morning numbers are good, this morning 5 or 90 but I said i am spiking after meals. I took my BG 2 hours after breakfast and I was 6.6 or 119. All the other mornings I have been between 8 or 144 to 10 or 180.

I will be showing my numbers to my doc and she will think there is no spiking and what is he on about.:stupid:

Mike, if your post-meal spikes are that low, I wish I were your equal. I spike very high, even with a low carb, low cal meal. I often hit 240-260 about 2 hours after eating, but then fall off very very fast.

Do you have the same breakfast all the time? I sure envy your post breakfast numbers : 6.6 :)

I have sugar free muesli for breakfast everyday. This is the first time I have been as low as 6.6 after breakfast. I stopped eating the muesli and tried a sandwich instead and my readings were still above 8 or 144 My doc don't like it if I go over 7 or 126. Its rare I have post meal reading as low 6.6 or 119 or lower. My best reading was 5.7 or 103 but that was eating veggies and plain fish and over a year ago.

Before I went on avadia my post meal readings were between 12 or 216 and 16 or 288 and it would take ages before my numbers would come down. My fasting numbers would be above 8 or 144 +

I want to come off avandia and try byetta, but I know if I come off avandia or stop taking avandia my number will spike high if I don't go onto something else.

Avandia made a big difference to my numbers.

This one has me puzzled, before eating my BG was 9.5, 171. After large dinner with rice and spuds 2 hours later my BG was 5.6, 101. all of my readings are puzzling me because when I eat something that I think will make me high it doesn't and then when I eat something that shouldn't make me high but it does.

This diabetes has got me completely baffled or I must just be having a good day with my BG readings or something.

My guess is food in the gut stimulated either insulin production or lowered insulin resistance

My fasting BG are often higher than my post breakfast levels
