Positively, it forces me to shift my focus to a more healthier lifestyle, eating better and exercising more. My family also now do the same. Negatively, I feel I can never just eat without factoring in carbs, activity level, etc. No more guilt-free eating is a definite negative for me.

Hi Ian
Snacks are a challenge for me because I am controlling with diet and I do not want the extra carbs. Even though there are many sugar free or reduced sugar snacks on the market many contain sugar alcholol or some other kind of sweetner that adds carbs. So, I essentially stick to peanuts and low carb yogurt mixed with some flavoring of some kind. Not too exciting...oh and pork rinds which are unhealthy in many other ways.
1. Do you prefer sweet or savoury snack products? sweet
2. What would you look for in a snack product? low carbs
3. And a sweet one specifically? low carbs
4. And a savoury one specifically? low carbs
5. What dishes would you like to eat but cannot? I don't really miss anything anymore. Maybe tomoatoes would be nice.
6. How does being diabetic affect you and your family (i.e. what positive or negative impacts does it have)? Initially I was so hyper focused and stressed with this diagnosis but since then my health is actually better than it ever has been. It does effect me socially however - particularly with dating because I need to be more selective in the kinds of restaurants I can go to and tend to eat at the same ones.
7. What is your favourite: meat - beef
8. fruit - I chose not to eat fruit...but when I did it was pineapple
9. veg - asparagus and broccoli
10. snack product - peanuts
11. topping -?
12. sauce? - I only eat cheese sauces now.
Hope this helps and good luck.
Dawn
