Somebody make a pretty cool little device to turn a soda can into a sharps container. If you're into that kind of safety...

Wow. That's got to be one of the worst designed products I've ever seen. Lets fill flimsy food containers up with biohazards and put them in dumps in 3rd world countries?? Bad Bad idea. I guarantee anyone searching for aluminum cans in dumps (a fairly common practice in "developing" countries) will just rip the top off and get a fist full of fun! Or even more fun they'll stomp on it to crush it (yet another common practice to make them more portable) and weee!!! pincushion foot!

I can just see someone dumpster/landfill "diving" to collect cans. That's a horrible "idea". In any country.
My biggest problem with the "establishment" sharps container is the high cost of turning them in to your local waste company. Waste Management charges a fee for sharps.
There used to be a drugstore campaign where you could turn them in...but I haven't heard much about that lately.
It would be an interesting "poll"...what do people do with their sharps?

And how can I dispose of my infusion sets in there? My tubing (which has a needle at the end that is attached to the whole thing)? And the reservoir needles are too big for that. And...oh well, it was a cute idea..

Check with your counties health department. Where I live they have a sharps container exchange. You can bring in a full container, they give you a new one for free and properly dispose of the full one.

Alice, in NY, any doctor's office/hospital/nursing home has to take it for free.
I'm sure Pepsi is just enthralled with this idea!

I think I'm going to buy one of those things and then sue pepsi when the can breaks and a needle pops out the side. Yeah, good idea there and I'll win millions, or I'll settle out of court for free diet pepsi for life at 3 cans a day. :T
