Went through a whole vial of ultrasmart strips and got error 5 on every single one.
I shall call Lifescan come the morning.

You gotta make sure blood gets all the way to the back end of the fill tube. Remember, it takes 3 times more blood than the flash and the second you put blood in the counter starts, so you can't mess around trying to add more blood.
Let us know what Lifescan says with giving more strips, but knowing the companies, they won't.

I've used the Ultra meters plently of times. Enough to know how to get blood on the strips. And the strips sucked it in just fine. And the whole thing was full. But I still got the message.

You have another strip laying around to test with the test solution? That's probably the first thing the folks at Lifescan will ask you to do.

I find I get that error when I don't wait for the little blood sample icon to come up on the meter. Sometimes I've added the blood to the test strip when the code number is still up on the screen.

Not doing that, either.
I went through the last 300 strips for this meter successfully, it's just these last 25 that have done it.

I've found even if I do it before hand they ask you to do it again when you call anyways.

I find that they are pretty good about replacing things...and if they start sounding iffy just tell them you're thinking about switching to another brand.....
I have had that happen a few times recently on one touch...loads of blood it sucked in but it was like there was a tiny airbubble on one side at the bottom of the strip... I did 5 tests till one worked yesterday...and I also have used thousands of one touch strips... bought mine at Costco, but noticed on the front page of yesterdays Globe and Mail an item about a Canadian firm being sued by Johnson and Johnson for knowing he had bought counterfeit strips from China and distributing them anyway... Makes ya wonder.....

Liberty.
Lifescan is sending me a new Ultrasmart and 50 strips. The rep I talked to was kinda rude. Anyways, I think it's a meter problem, not the strips, cause I tried the strips on my Ultra2 with no problem.
