I'm still using vials and syringes....and it takes me about 6-8 weeks to use up a vial of humalog. The current one is about 6 weeks old...
Anyway, I got it out today to shoot up and I noticed liquid pooled up on the stopper...smelled it...UGGGHHH bandaids! So, I knew it was insulin!
I guess I've been drawing up the insulin from the exact same hole in the stopper from day one, and now it's so large that if the bottle tips insulin spills out...of course I turned it upside down to prove this theory.
Can this be sanitary??? I store in in a plastic container (to keep myself from accidently shooting lantus instead)...
I've never had this happen before....and I'm toying with just throwing it out....but my frugal nature absolutely cringes at the thought of throwing away perfectly good insulin...
and it's still working...went low this afternoon....:D
