You know, while I'm glad MDI has generally improved my quality of life and made it easier for me to exercise and enjoy food again, the MDI/pumping model of treatment has a number of severe drawbacks and limitations.
Now smart insulin wouldn't be a cure, but it would be a treatment that actually works more like the actual insulin delivery system in a normally healthy person's body works. It would work in response to how our blood sugar varies due our basal metabolisms and consumption of food, it would practically eliminate the anticipatory principles of basal and bolus, MDI and pumping.
