I wrote a little bit (ok, a lot...lol :D) about this under Amy's thread, but I was wondering if anyone has taken a break or breaks from using the pump and returned to injections. And if so, what motivated you to do so and have you returned to using the pump again. Just wondering:p

Thanks!

I've never seriously considered taking a pump break, but a friend of mine did. While on injections, she had to take two types of insulin: Humalog and Lantus. She took her Lantus before bed, welll she thought it was Lantus, after she injected, she discovered it was Humalog. She had to stay up testing and eating to cover 18u of Humalog. She quickly returned to her pump since there's no danger of an insulin mix-up there.

I went of the pump my last month of pregnancy, I was having to give myself so much insulin to control my bgs. The shots ended up working better for some reason. Afterewards, I found excuses not to go back on, which I loved the control I had with the pump.

After a year of having very bad lows hitting too quickly, I decided to go back on the pump to try and get better control. I am getting there, but still having too many lows. Though the lows aren't as extreme as they were, which is a relief.

I am in the process of waiting for the paper work to be finished to get a new pump.
