Back in May I was feeling less than stellar and the were my blood results. To me it looks like my kidneys are out to lunch. This all went away but in the last few days I started feeling like I did back in May. I went for Blood work today but won't know the results until Thursday. I'd apreciate any help from you guys with more knowledge on this. Thanks

Chris,
I am not a doctor (yet ;) ) but it seems you are on too much Diovan. Did your doctor do this lab work because of the ACE inhibitor you are on? After you take an ACE you should ALWAYS get blood work done - the reason for this is that too much, or sometimes even at the reccommended small dose it can cause a rise; Most noteably in the population of ACE users elevated Ka+ (potassium levels). If it is causing your Ka+ it is also very, very likely to raise your serum creatnine and BUN levels. Anything above 5.5 on Ka is a bit of a concer. 6 is a concern, but heart murmers and other effects of elevated Ka+ usually are noted around 7-8. You will not get there as long as you don't increase your ACE.
The fact that your urinalysis came out well (not perfect but very far from concern) suggests to me that is directly caused by your ACE. Besides your Ka+ levels you are looking A-ok imho. You do need to keep your kidneys, eyes, nerves, and cardiovascular system always in check. Comes with the territory of diabetes. The more you watch it, but DONT stress on it, the better you will be in the future.
Run this by your doctor. It looks like you maybe have been decreasing it over the months, or getting used to it?
Why were you put on Diovan?

I was on lisinopril sp? for a few years nd in feb he added a low dose of diovan for more protection. In April I started with some nasty flu that got me really dehydrated. So I had this blood work done and revieled the elivated potassium levels. At that time my doc cut out the lisinipril and increased my diovan. After that my levels came back in line. Recently I started with some of the same symptoms as I did back then so I had blood work done again. I'll let you know what the results are tomorrow.

Hope the numbers come back well pj and look forward to you posting them. I would expect your numbers to continue to be closer to normal as the lisinopril can take a month to fully clear your system.
Interesting on the lisinopril - that is what I and pretty much the majority of diabetics take for kidney protection / high BP. How do you like diovan in comparison?
Are you a chemist?

My bp is higher on the diovan. On the lisinipril I was 118/72 and on the Diovan I'm 128/80. I was told that the Diovan does a better job of protecting the kidneys.

Well the results are back and the only 2 bad things were my A1c 7.5:mad: and my protien/urine test was 175. My dr is going to lower my Diovan and add a low dose of Lisinipril. Everything else was in range. I swear lately if it's not my eyes it's my kidneys or anxiety attacks! Grrrrr:mad:
