I went to my eye Doc today and have a vein inclusion. He is sending me to a Retin specialist on Mon. Has anyone ever heard of this. My one eye is very blurry. I am sure I will be getting Laser Surgery done which is one of my biggest fears.

Sorry Gabby, that must be very scary. I don't know a thing about eye problems, but I think laser surgery doesn't hurt. Just kind of creepy. Hugs and good luck-Julie

Expect a tough ride there Gabby. With luck it can be treated successfully and vision restored, but I think it's more likely you'll be living with the blurriness. Do you have cardiovascular problems? I believe they are often associated.

Absolutely!

Be comforted to know that today's technology is truly marvelous. The eye doctors are great too. But any eye problem we face is serious. It will be uncomfortable physically and emotionally regardless of the outcome. You know that, I know that, we all know that. I wish we could all have a bunch of knowing friends with us during these times, but please take comfort in knowing we are thinking of you and praying for you. Please keep us up-to-date.

Not sure what a vein inclusion is, but my understanding is many eye problems, if caught early, can be treated effectively ( laser surgery as mentioned above)

I hope it goes well, and am sorry to hear about your trouble,

Hi Gabby,

While I did not have a vein inclusion, I *did* have laser treatments for proliferative diabetic retinopathy over the summer. I'd be lying if I said it was easy and that there was no pain. That said, it was definitely manageable and not as scary as I expected it to be.

If you're interested, you can read about my WHOLE experience here:
http://www.diabetesforums.com/forum/eyes/19922-laser-treatments-tomorrow-wednesday.html

I found that, for me (and you may be different), it was important for me to know all the facts and all the possibilities and really understand what was going to happen before I went in for my treatments. That made all the difference for me. I had to be really realistic with myself about what I might/might not experience. I had some great supporters (on DF and otherwise) who helped me learn everything I wanted to know, and some great supporters (on DF and otherwise) who just gave me a shoulder to lean on.

We're here for you - for information and/or shoulders. :)

Feel free to PM me if you have questions.

I just got back from my medical Doctor visit and he explained the "Vein Occlusion". It is most likely from the hemorrahaging behind that eye. A clot forms to close the vein off. He does not think it's from anything cardiovascular. The eye specialist is going to wait and watch to see if it heals itself.OMG I hope so. I did get great news, my A1C is at 5.7 from the Byetta and he is very happy with that. Told me to stay at the 5 ml dose and won't put me on 10.I was afraid my A1C had gone up but it's gone down again so that will help keep me motivated . Thanks everyone who answered this post. I love this forum!
