Hubby is going to be a heart patient once again in a hopsital that is very far from where we live. We will have to drive about 8 hours to get there ,then he is to be admitted.

I'm not nice any more (not that I ever was) :T So I need to now how to keep my insulin cold for a week or more? In a hopsital ???

So far I have only come up with kissing up to any staff member that has connections to ICE!! Any body been there done this and got the answer? If it was for a day I have the blue plastic things you put inthe freezer but they won't hold that long

Your insulin should be ok at room temperature. You don't want to have to wait to get access to your insulin. So I wouldn't give it to anyone else to refrigerate.

Like BlueSky says, your insulin should be fine at room temps for a week.

I keep my current Lantus cartridge at room temp for the week it takes to use it up.

I keep my Novolog cartridge at room temps for the ??? days it takes to use it up.

You're fine w/o ice or refridgeration, just as mentioned.
In my experience, hospitals are always freezing anyway!

I've always kept my open bottles of insulin at room temp. You should be fine! :D Good luck with your husband, I hope everything turns out well for him!

It will be fine. And whatever you do, don't give it to anyone at the hospital. WHo knows what will happen to it!

Not that there was anything wrong with where you put it. It probably would have been responded to earlier in the thread it's going to.

BTW the redirect is set for a week.
