You can probably guess this isn't about barking, swimming seals, but about seals inside my pump reservoir ;)

I went to my folks' house--about 3 hours away and took my usual bunch of supplies, including plenty of sets for a planned set change. Well, what a doofus, I forgot to bring my bottle of Novolog. So I planned to change on day 4 instead (today) when I got home.

Much to my surprise, I got a "low insulin" alarm. Since I usually load enough for 1-2 extra days, was I surprised to find that I was down to my last 15 units.

I'm home now, and all changed out, but during the change I found the following:

1. The space where the reservoir goes was full of insulin smell.
2. The whole used reservoir smelled of insulin.
3. The tubing was well attached to the top of the reservoir.
4. I had used the reservoir that had been my emergency
replacement that I'd carried in my purse for some time.

My conclusion is that I had used a reservoir in which the seals had dried from being stored in my purse for some time. Even though I pumped it to lubricate it before filling, it evidently didn't do the job.

And... from now on, I'll make sure I rotate that spare reservoir so it is always a fresh one with good seals.

Just an observation on rotation of stock. And remembering to bring your insulin, of course.

Which reservoir/pump was this for?

Cozmo. The reservoir had been in my test strip case for about 5-6 months.
