Ok usually if I am less active I don't see a massive rise till Sunday Saturday I will be just a little over 100 most of the day then Sunday I notice a rise...
Well I was noticing a bad rise all day, So I just decided to go with a higher pattern or basal that I had before July at the end of today, so the sugars look better...
So reassure me most of you go thru a basal change as the seasons change, because I am noticing this big time, because today made no sense at all to me,
I am hoping for a better day tomorrow, hopefully i will get this down......
But it makes sense because I thought I got stuff down last year around this time and I started to go haywire around end of Sept beginning of Oct, but this was also because I didn't carb count or all that stuff back last year till October/November...
Anyway so this is really normal right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really think it is the season's changing, and the fact that I am wanting more carbs...
To me it is like this.....We are still going to change with nature...so we are technically supposed to have a bit more meat on our bones, as the body's natural defense for the winter....more meat more heat LOL...
So I have decided to up my rates and up my carbs for meals by 5 or 10, I am just going to go with the flow of nature, instead of defy it, I might do better LOL...
We will see...

Cheryl,
Everytime I think everything is running "normal" I get a reminder that the only thing constant is change... Yesterday, the day was going "normal" then mid afternoon I hit 191 - I have no clue where that one came from - stress was "normal", I swear I counted my lunch carbs right - I'm recouperating from surgery last Monday, but my BGs have been pretty good through the week. Who knows. Being diabetic means we have to roll with the punches and never quit trying!
Good luck!

I have always used more basal insulin during winter than I do during summer. The difference was much bigger when we lived inland in South Africa than it has been since we moved to a coastal area in New Zealand. I assume it is because the seasonal contrasts in temperature are not as extreme here. It must have something to do with energy requirements. During winter our bodies need to generate more heat, so the metabolism picks up and we eat more.

That is exactly what happened to me, i was 176 and and I ate my usual for lunch. Then only thing I wasn't very active, but that doesn't happen to me on Saturdays always on Sundays.....weird very weird...it usually takes two days of a less active days for me to notice a rise, which makes me think I might have to up my rates on weekends yet again oh sigh...LOL...

Remember that things will never be constant when you live with diabetes. I had been on the same basal rate for about 10 months during the hours of 10 p.m. until 7 a.m. and all of the sudden had several highs in a row for three days. Needless to say, it was time for a change. I adjusted my basal rates based upon my blood sugar readings and all is going well. You just have to monitor your blood sugars, what you are eating, your exercise, etc. Also, keep in mind that you may need more/less insulin during different times of the month or when you are ill. I also have noticed that I usually require a little less insulin in the summer. The heat has always had an effect on my blood sugars. I'm sure I will see that happen as the temperatures drop this month to more fall-like temperatures.
Hang in there. Also remember - "Life's a dance. You learn as you go."
Best wishes.
