I've been buying them at local big chain pharmacies but I think I could probably save some cash by ordering in bulk online.... Duane Rede and CVS have ones that I like..... can anyone reccomend a place to order them online ?

The price of glucose tabs is so low, I don't concern myself. Just pick them up when I need some.

I've never ordered them. I usually pick them up at WalMart or CVS. WalMart is cheaper.:)

I just pick up the big bottle at Walmart, about $ 5, if you order online, you have to figure in shipping and handling.

The cheapest place I have found online is the American Diabetes Wholesale Company: Diabetic Supplies Online - Diabetes Testing Supplies - American Diabetes Wholesale (http://www.americandiabeteswholesale.com/StoreFront.bok)

They do charge for shipping, but if you spend $100 or more they have free shipping.

Actually, I prefer Pixy Stix, and my daughter uses Smarties candies--they both have basically the same ingredients as glucose tablets:

Dex4 Glucose Tablet Raspberry
Ingredients
Dextrose (Glucose), Cellulose Maltodextrin, Magnesium Stearate, Citric Acid, Natural and Artificial Flavor, Artificial Color"

PIXY STICKS
INGREDIENTS: Dextrose, Citric Acid, LESS THAN 2% OF: Artificial Flavors, Artificial Colors (Blue 2 Lake, Red 40 Lake, Yellow 6 Lake)

SMARTIES
INGREDIENTS: Dextrose, Citric Acid, Calcium Sterate, Artificial Flavors and Colors (FDC Red 40 Lake, Blue 1 Lake, Blue 2 Lake, Yellow 5 Lake, Yellow 6 Lake)

I keep glucose tabs around and with me all the time but I haven't used one for years. I can usually treat lows in other ways, like last weekend at an Irish Festival I was 61 mg/dl and I just ate a burger with the whole bun. Or at my office I eat dried fruit. At home I usually eat some mixed nuts. Am I doing this wrong?

Not wrong at all...There are a few advantages to the glucose tablets though... they are consistent in how many carbs you are eating to recover from a low, and they are fast acting. Be careful how fast you eat them though... you'll inhale the powder and choke!:hmmmm:

I think glucose tabs are pretty expensive for what they are and it takes me about 6 or 7 for one low. I buy the Dex 4 green apple ones at Sam's club. They come as a package of 2 containers of 50 for just under $9. The only reason I use glucose tabs is when I need something very fast acting.. they have a glycemic index of over 100 which is almost twice as fast as a soda or orange juice.
