Before I start my training, I am to meet with a dietician. She wants a 3 day food log. What exactly is she looking for? Do I need to include carb counts? Calorie counts? Help !!!!!

When I did mine I listed what I ate, what servings I ate, carb info, and the math I used to calculate my insulin doses.

She is probably making sure you know your carbs inside and out -- in other words, how many carbs is a piece of bread? How many carbs in a 1/2 cup of mashed potatoes? Etc. Since the pump is totally reliant on that information, you really have to be an expert to use it correctly. That's what my dietician was doing, anyway.

Good Luck to you!

I never saw a dietician, but I certainly found I had to pay much more atention to carbs. I got myself a decent scale, and I use it a lot.

Don't get all wrapped up in how to do the list Cin. Just list your foods and your portion size. Your dietician will tell you if you are eating what is considered a "single serving". She is looking to help you decide on bolus for foods you most commonly eat and help you figure the cabs. She isn't going to try to trip you up.

Thanks everybody. I just didn't want to mess anything up, ie: not having the right info/enough info. I've waited too long for this. :)

Just list what you normally eat , she wants to see if you can count carbs.

Mind you , I did not have to see a dietician , but I expect that is what they want.

I was really suprised that I did not have to do much of anything to get the pump and the only "training" I got was the pump trainer coming to my house and talking with me about an hour and then I got hooked up and talked to her every night to see if changes needed to be made.

I think I would have been more nervous if I did not DF to come to and ask questions if I was having any problems.
