Hi,

My postprandial readings have been lower than my fasting readings. Any idea why that may be happening? I'm not using insulin at meals. I haven't changed medication in months. I've lost weight. The only change I can think of is that I've raised the intensity of my exercise a bit. Otherwise, everything is the same.

The biggest difference was a postprandial reading of 69 after dinner, followed by a fasting reading of 109 the next morning. Today, my pp breakfast was 109. My prelunch fasting is 118.

I have no idea what's going on.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Hi Sparten, Could be that your basal insulin is not finely tuned. Try fasting for 10-12 hours, best time do not eat at night after 10pm, go for the next 10-12 hours, skip breakfast. If you are using the correct number of units of lantus, your bg reading over this period should stay within 10 or 12 points. If they drop lower you are taking to much lantus. If they go higher, then you are not taking enough. remember to keep well hydrated wile trying this, just drink plenty of water, no soda!
